There are three very good reasons I’m sharing these special Procreate freebies with you today.
The first reason being, it’s the 2nd Birthday of the iPC website! (Well it officially fell on the 15th of December, but we were visiting family in Queensland, and this post was delayed). That’s right, I hit the launch button 2 years ago! It’s been challenging at times – many 5am starts in the early days, and an unusual amount of life curveballs along the way. I’ve poured a lot of love into this website but of course, I couldn’t do it without you! So reason 1 is to say thanks to YOU for 2 years!
The second excuse to give you cool stuff reason is, this post is doubling as the December issue of the Freebie Roundup email. For those not on the newsletter, Freebie Roundup (which is usually email form only), is a collection of the best free resources harvested from across the web ie. Procreate brushes, patterns, textures and the like. It usually goes out to subscribers on the first Thursday of each month, but again… Family. Queensland.
And the third reason? This will be the last post for 2018! The blog has been so amazing, especially the later part of this year. I’ve really enjoyed publishing tutorials and sharing tips and techniques for Procreate. I’ve received a lot of lovely comments saying how this has helped your own progress (I love to hear from you, thank you 🙏). This made me realise I really want to put my efforts into more training resources. I have some awesome new projects underway that I’m really excited about, including a Procreate 101 series for beginners, as well as big improvements to the Copperplate Calligraphy Guide. The best is yet to come, and the only way to stay up-to-date with these developments is to join the newsletter tribe. They always hear the juicy stuff first so if you’re not on the list already, sign up via the form at the bottom of the page.
Anyway, all of the above reasons combine to bring you these special gifts from 3 very talented artists. I’m really excited to share these with you, not just so you can sample their wares, but also to spotlight the actual artists themselves and their skill at making useful products. Each of these people stood out to me and I had to ask if they would like to be involved. They were keen, so let’s get onto the goods!

WATCH THE FREE WORKSHOPBrushUp
Our first generous freebie was created by Matt from Brushup. These 6 brushes are a taste of what’s included in his ‘Paint Bundle for Procreate’ pack, which bundles 3 different artistic brush packs into one mega pack (it’s also 40% off at the moment FYI)! These 6 brushes are extra special, as they are not included in the actual pack but were created especially to give an overall flavour of what you would find inside, nice!
I really love these. They are gorgeously textured and the ink builds up as you paint, giving an impressively realistic result. And the ‘Watercolor Build-up’ beautiful pairs with the ‘Watercolor Bleed’ brush.
As with any gift, it’s only polite to say thank you. I’m sure sure Matt would appreciate a thumbs up on the product page of his Creative Market page, so please go ahead and thank him there. You’ll find lots of other tasty packs on his Shop page.
These brushes are great and I would seriously consider getting the whole pack if I were you!
Frankentoon
Our next exciting gift is courtesy of Enrique from FrankenToon! This set of 8 high quality brushes feature textured shaders, pastel pencil, Watercolor and more. This expressive pack allow you to layer up colour and texture for amazingly detailed results!
The FrankenToon website has a wide variety of different artistic packs. The example illustrations are great inspiration for what you can achieve!
And if Affinity Designer for the iPad is part of your toolkit, they also have an extensive library of tutorials.
You can check out more of Frankentoon’s brushes here.
Liz Kohler Brown
And last but not least, we have some really unique pastel brushes from Liz Kohler Brown. These brushes help you create a super bold pastel texture with your calligraphy or decorative elements on the page. Tip: Duplicate the paper texture layer and use it with a solid or semi-transparent layer underneath to get more depth.
Liz is an artist, illustrator, and teacher who comes out with new Procreate tutorials every few weeks. Each class comes with free brushes and templates, plus tons of easy tips for becoming a Procreate master.
Check out Liz’s class on pastels in Procreate to learn how to create those incredible neon feathers!
Please note: Each of these downloads are packaged as a single ‘.brushset’ file, so don’t forget the new way to install set files! Rather than importing from within the app, locate the file from your Files app, and tap it to open and install in Procreate. The brushes will appear in a new set at the top of your brush panel.
Well, if it doesn’t feel like Christmas already! 😉 That’s it from me. I’ll be on all the socials, but see you here again in the new year!
P.S. Speaking of Christmas, you are looking for any last minute ideas, and would like to give the gift of beautiful writing to a friend or family member, just email me and we can sort that out for you!
