The moment I got the iPad Pro & Apple Pencil, I knew this was going to be huge for lettering and calligraphy. Using Procreate has literally spoiled me forever! It’s so intuitive, mess-free, portable, not to mention undoing mistakes at the tap of two fingers!
My background is in Web Design which I’ve been doing professionally for about 15 years or so. I’ve been practicing calligraphy and lettering almost every day as a hobby for just on a year now. I find it mediative and relaxing, and can’t think of a better way to wind down after a hectic day at work. I’m totally hooked. And if you’re reading this, chances are you are too.
This website came about from a Calligraphy Course I’ve been working on the last couple of months. It started with creating templates in Procreate for my own practice drills which I started to share. The response surprised me and it seemed this was something that was needed.
So many worksheets you find online give the strokes and letterforms, but without instructions of where to go from there, or small details to be aware of. Don’t get me wrong, these are great, but they also often don’t have the ability to practice on your own (which can be really time consuming to edit yourself).
This website will be a home for my learnings in this area. I’m no Seb Lester, but my intention is to share with you what I learn as I go. It won’t be restricted to guides and worksheets. There will be brushes, tutorials and free resources too, but today, I’m opening the doors with this Course. I really hope you enjoy it!
